Founder & Chair
Tameka is committed to empowering our young girls and making sure their voices are heard at all levels. First Gen Success was created by her vision to achieve this and preparing our future generation for a sustainable education and access to many opportunities.
By being a product of a first generational graduates; she understands the importance of preparing our future scholars. With her many years of corporate experience and voluntarism in the mentoring space gives her the knowledge and capacity to achieve this worthy vision. Also, spends her time being a social justice advocate and community partner.
Tameka earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Finance & Marketing at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her Masters in Business Administration at Gardner Webb University.
Board Member, Analytical Research
Chemere is a data scientist strategist, educator, mentor, and community builder.
Her extensive work understanding and unveiling unique behaviors using descriptive and prescriptive analysis provides high level visual insights that results in action.
Being a first generational college student, she has helped paved the way for our female scholars and sharing her passion for data science. Throughout her career, she has held many senior level positions that has accredited her to be one of the top in her field.
Also, as an advisory committee member for Mecklenburg County Information Services & Technology Advisory Committee gives her the ability to provide a systematic and well-grounded approach to First Gen Success.
Chemere earned her Bachelors in Health & Exercise Sciences and Masters in Business Adminstration at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
"I focus on individuals to see their goals through their eyes. I give personal proactive advice after understanding each person’s measure of success." Julie's passion to others and always strive to support others in their endeavors including our future female scholars.
Julie is a certified public account and principal of her major firm, LBA Haynes Strand located in Charlotte, NC.
In 2014, Julie was named the Board President of NAWBO Charlotte where she has been a member for over 10 years and has held many positions, including Treasurer. NAWBO is the National Association of Women Business Owners and is a national organization that provides resources and knowledge to women business owners.
Jess is an expert in the financial and capital banking field with over 10 years experience. By having the ability to understand complex financial business models and managing portfolios through financial reviews, valuation analyses, management diligence sessions, and industry research is a core pillar to continuously evolve our programming model.
Her recent accomplishments include; Member of Junior League of Charlotte;, 2018 Pinnacle Award and 2017 Community Support Campaign co-lead for Corporate Banking.
She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Finance Major Financial Markets. During her time there she was a teaching assistant for Introduction to Financial Management and Research which further sparked her passion to support our youth.
Board Member, Sponsorships
Rose is a passionate educator that has first on-hand experience in the classroom to the district level in Fayetteville, North Carolina. By being able to see the education system from a holistic perspective; she understands the importance of a strong academic program.
Her unique approach and experience is instrumental in First Gen Success and able to personally assess each of our scholars throughout the program will set them up for ultimate success.
She is a first generational college student with a Bachelors and Masters in Education. A sustainer through the Junior League of Fayetteville Chapter and an active community innvoator and role model.
Board Member, Volunteer Management
Kate is a Social & Behavior Research Scientist and Organizational Behavior Professor at Wake Forest University. She is an experienced educator and instructor with an extensive background at major universities. Also, a certified board member and management will be instrumental in the success of our organization to further collaboration within the First Gen Success community.
Board Member, Fund Development
Alex is an experienced Chief Development Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the human services industry. Strong nonprofit professional skilled in Fundraising, Donor Communications, Event Planning and Management, Strategic Planning, and Volunteer Management.
Board Member, Programming
Jennifer is a community advocate and experienced education leader. As a passionate educator for several school boards and districts she combines her passion for female empowerment and advocacy makes her a perfect for our organization.
By serving on several local community boards will provide additional opportunities for our scholars and the First Gen Success community!
Tracy Libertino - Fegarksy
Currently President & CEO at Metrolina for the Blind with over 20+ years of successful global operational, consulting, sales and marketing experience in the technology industry. Proven track record and leadership skills in building new organization initiatives ranging from technology.
Currently, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Policy at NC State and Kimberly Cogdell Grainger received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Hampton University. She received her Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health specializing in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kim will serve as our legal advisor with an extensive background in nonprofit and board relationships.
